The restaurant was great. Some of the best food we had on our trip.

The room was almost in the restaurant patio - right next to the kitchen. It was also a bit musty.

Nice place to stay in Cartagena

Very nice hostel in a perfect location in the heart of Getsemani, close to the centenarian park and to the walled city. We felt safe walking around even in the night. The hotel provide you with a bottle of filtered water and they refill it as often as you need. That was a big plus. The rooms had AC with made the stay more comfortable. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Good value for the price. The staff is lovely and very friendly and take care about anything you can need. Keep the good work

Great place!

Location is perfect, the bed is very comfortable. Although the bedroom we stayed there was no window we didn’t miss it. They also kept our luggage’s for a couple of hours after check in.

Breakfast was a bit small but I suppose it’s similar in all Cartagena.

Exceptional

Julian our host was excellent. It was my first time travelling to Colombia and he was very helpful with where to go and what to do. The room was very comfortable, clean and cozy. We ate breakfast there 2 mornings, the food was delicious. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Casa Venita.

Excellent everything!

Excellent everything! Staff were incredibly friendly and very service oriented. They serve food and full bar in very cute setting - could stay there for weeks on end! Love the neighborhood - so much better than expensive touristy old town , but can walk there in 5-10 minutes. Fabulous!!!

Cozy, quiet and clean place

* Rooms are spacious and clean. * Located in a small street in Getsemani, it is a very quiet place, where you can get a good night’s sleep, yet the historic part of Cartagena is only a 5 min walk away. * Very friendly staff. * Smoothies and coffees are very tasty. You should enjoy them here rather than in one of the bad value-for-money spots in the city.

Excellent staff, location and hostel overall.

Excellent staff, location and hostel overall. Really helpful managers and you can’t ask for a better location. Rooms had air con which ran perfectly. Rooms were clean, fresh towels daily, the 4-bed dorm room has a small window above the door (many have said no window but to be honest you don’t need a window in a room in Cartagena - you sleep and pack bags, the rest you do outdoors and in the beautiful courtyard!) decent breakfast each day. Showers had warmish-water which is completely enough when you come in from the 32C Cartagena heat! They organised my taxis, a trip to the salon and also a wonderful day trip to the Rosario islands. Can’t recommend more!!

Really cute hostel with a gorgeous courtyard and cold beer.

Really cute hostel with a gorgeous courtyard and cold beer. We only stayed one night and it was perfectly located in Getsemani and close to the port for trips to Roserio Islands. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and tidy.

Beautiful, old but well-maintained property, with very charming rooms and a nice patio. Clean rooms, without mosquito's and with air-conditioning. Also provides good breakfast / lunch options. Great location.

Great location. Comfortable. Accommodating. Highly recommended.

Jennifer (front desk) and Jullian (owner) were very friendly and helpful at all times both before our arrival and after. Breakfast (included) was tasty, well prepared and plentiful. Room (King? w/ Queen bed) was comfortable. Plumbing modern. A charming renovation of an old (several 100 years) house. Cafe/restaurant in front room serves great, reasonably priced, sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies, coffees, fruits drinks, deserts. Location in Getsemani barrio a plus for us (as in being in a local neighbourhood and not tourist kitsch)-great street life/food/art, interesting restaurants, shops, cafes. Walking distance to historic center but cabs are clean, air-conditioned, inexpensive and always available. For context, not from the U.S. as Booking.con insists - Canadians living in Nicaragua.

Stay with friends

Helpful and good natured personnel, excellent owner who would always welcome us with a smile and a friendly conversation, beautiful interior. Felt like staying with friends. It is a hostel , but experience was of a good 3 Hotel. Housekeeping on a daily basis, comfortable beds with clean white sheets, bathroom towels provided, delicious quality breakfast. It is also located in the lively area of Getsemani, though, on a very quiet street. Nothing bad to say about this lovely little hostel. Thank you for your hospitality!

Nice place in a great part of town

Nice and quiet room, I really liked the design of the hotel and the thick walls that keep the room cool during the day. The location is also great. Staff was friendly, and somebody was waiting for me when I arrived late at night. They also helped me organize a tour to islas de rosario and transportation to Minca.

No hot water in the shower (I knew that before though and think it's common in cartagena. Still, I do not enjoy washing my hair in cold water, no matter how hot it is outside.)

Great location in Getsemani. Airco in the room. Bathroom was fine. Only 4 people max in the room. Great breakfast: they will come ans ask what you want and you get fresh juice. Not too much partyhostel so you can actually sleep.

A bit dark in the room, no windows. Nice café in the front.

Awesome stay - Great staff, perfect location, and good vibes

Casa Venita was great from the staff to the location and everything in between. It was very clean and the staff assisted with many questions. Julian was a pleasure to talk to and very kind. The house kitty, Fiona, aka "Fefe" was super adorable and welcomed playtime and snuggles. Breakfast was good with eggs (with the works if you like), toast, fruit, juice, and coffee. The location was superb. Maybe a 5 minute walk - at best - to entrance to the old city. Just at the end of the block was Trinidad Square where there was a small convenience store, a few restaurants, and a plethora of street vendors. Almost every night was some gathering and entertainment in the square. One night was silent aerobics, another was live music, beakers, and MJ impersonators, and the weekend was an array of many things with great vibes. I felt completely safe walking around at all hours as a solo female traveler. Thanks for everything!

I was in a 4 person bunk and the air con is directly over one of the top bunks. The first night the room had all 4 beds occupied and the person on that top bunk turned the air off and it got uncomfortably hot. Completely not Casa Venita's fault but power went out all three mornings I was there. Just note this is to be expected during your stay, but it isn't off for long and it seems to be the whole neighborhood.
